No problems yet. I do have frame stiffeners as Aaron suggested, as well as bumper tie-ins.

Gone but not forgotten...
I understand that, but not everyone is running stiffeners or cages.

If i'm wrong then fine, but the jeep pictured looks like it's welded to the rock slider and then to the bumper. I don't know if he has any other structure to the frame or anything else that would stop it from flexing. But if he doesn't, then I would be worried about the welds cracking the sliders or the bumper.

A stock xj frame flexes alot.
I understand that a stock XJ flexes but I think it would be fine.

Wasn't sure if you did or not.

Look up Cruizin Illusion's build thread. He did some real nice tube flares.

EDIT: Just realized, he's already been linked to. :D

yes, his are really good. I'm nowhere near him in terms of fabbing stuff. But I didn't want to have to invest in the whole quarter panel gaurds to have tube flares. Mine are easy to unbolt and the are strong. I have less then 100 dollars in them so far.

These are coming out nice. Makes me want to just rip off my plastic ones and try to make some. Do you have any pics of how you reinforced them?

Here's some pics of the bracing. Like I said there are 3 on the front flares. One at each end and one in the middle. Here's the front.

Here's some of the rear. The angle that I have is going to be replaced. I would like to run it across to catch at least 2 tabs. That would help to distribute the wieght. The body seems pretty strong here and the flare is really solid as it is, but I would feel better if the angle was bigger.
This is the rear most mount of the pass. rear flare.

The front most mount. I had to go through the vent in the door jamb to bolt it up.

The underneath of the rear most mount. I used scraps of 1/8 steel as washers to try and prevent any pulling through of the bolts if I ever get caught on anything.

This is the tabs in the wheelwell again. Here you can see the middle tab that I want to tie the angle into. I just need a longer piece of angle.

So far I like them alot.

Those look great, first bolt on tubes I have ever seen for the xj. I received a reply today from Those Guys Rods and Customs (the company that makes the tubes and cages on the white jeeps I posted) and the gave me a quote of $200 per corner for the flat tube flares and $250 per corner for the angled tube flares. That's a little pricier than Bushwackers and Iceland's flares, combined even... They are so darn cool though!

I have right around 100 dollars into these so far. That will go up when I bedline them, but still nowhere near even what a set of bushwhackers cost. Plus, these won't crack if a tree looks at them funny.
