Are drum brake explorer 8.8's 31 spline?

I have the chance to get a drum brake Explorer 8.8 for a good deal, but is it the desirable 31 spline? I've seen some that say it is and some say it's not. Does anybody know for sure??

I dont think so. i think its 29. but I may be wrong as i often am, but i know people have been saying to stay away from the older explorer rear ends.

I think the 96 and newer w/the disk brakes have the 31 spline axles. I have a 96 exploder 8.8 in mine and had to replace an axle due to the exploder being t-boned. But I know it 31 spine for sure. But got it cheap....
