So im thinking about buying the Psc Hydro Assist kit if I dont do that I was thinking about Doing the pump kit and the extreme box what do you guys think whats the ups and downs of the hydro and what will it be like driving it on the street I have a full size 44 running a reid racing knuckle and high steer arm and running 36 inch iroks also what do you guys think about doing just the pump kit and extreme box Thanks for your guys imput

it's hard to understand where the sentence ends and the new one begins it's like your not using simple punctuation to get your point across I will try and read it again though thanks for your time god i love commas and periods what is this world coming too are we all just dumb as rock why does the water look blue are we myself omfg blow me up

Well its assholes like you that make people not want to post on this forum you should go hang out on pirate so if you dont XXXXing have anything to add to the subject dont waste my XXXXing time im a member on this site to get info and advice not to get graded punctuation.

Be doing one myself as I'm looking to run 42's. just not sure if I'm going to go full or not yet. But you really don't need it for 36's, but let me tell you, you don't need alot of things when it comes to jeeps , but hell it's makes it a hell of alot better. And for DD you would be fine.

Is it that hard to through some periods in there so people don't think your a 10 year old kid who can't write? People will take your questions much more seriously. But anyways, hydo assist won't be too bad on road. It will be more sensitive to input of course so high speeds might not feel as good but, on the other hand hydro assist is the best steering stablizer you can get. You won't have to worry about bumps jerking the wheel. With the setup you are talking about you will have no problem turning 36s on the trail or road.

You won't feel the assist much on the street. It is mainly to assist you when you hit something hard and help with force. Your steering maybe slower on street depending on setup.

It will be the Psc extreme hydro assist kit. Do you think it will be slower on the street.

Probably not........being matched helps. Mine was cheap but it worked and was slow. Not enough to bother me on the street..........granted I was pushing around aired down 38.5 tsls. I also found that the west texas mod for the steering would help. Since your getting psc it will probably already be setup nice

If you get the matched set it won't feel any different anywhere except have more power and less kickback. Those who say it will be more sensitive on the street haven't done it. The speed of the box (turns lock to lock) doesn't change by adding an assist ram. But, if you get a big ram and get the bigger box then the pump needs to have plenty of volume or you could have a little slow response at low engine rpm. I'd stick with the smaller (stock size) steering box with the ram, as it will have plenty of power and the stock box will have better slow speed response due to less fluid volume and it will have better feel on the street because of the variable ratio box.

Both the assist on my XJ and the assist on my buggy have the small steering box. The buggy has a bigger ram, I use a 1.75" ram, but the small box and it has very fast response and plenty of power. I drive virtually all trails with the palm of my hand on the wheel with 40" sticky tires. I strongly recommend the smaller 4.5" pulley that PSC sells, it greatly improves the slow speed response.

You also could be just fine with the bigger performance box and performance pump, but it won't be as good as with the assist, and you won't have the assist as a great steering dampener. I wouldn't spend the money for a new box without getting it with assist ports so you could add assist later if you wanted it. If you don't have a cooler, be sure to add one.

Yeah that's the one. I have it as well and it works out great for the slow stuff.

Just be careful if you ever go to remove it...my pulley remover tool broke the lip off instead of removing the pulley. I guess it's a permanent fixture now until the pump craps out. :mad:

Yep, that's the one. With it, my steering on the buggy never has any hesitation. I never put one on the XJ, and while the steering is real good, at certain low speed situations when you want to whip the wheel really fast there is some resistance, due to not enough flow from the pump at the low rpm. Basically, you're trying to push the steering wheel faster than the fluid flow will allow, and the smaller pulley takes care of that. This doesn't show up at slow speed, it shows up going into a corner when you let off the gas and the engine speed drops to just off idle (with an auto trans) right when you want to turn the wheel fast going into a tight turn. You can learn to predict this, but the smaller pulley eliminates it.
