OR just replace them?

Its not the rust, its the pitting. The rust will clean off but if the metal is scarred it will be weak. Those look pretty bad.

rockauto sells dana/spicer parts now, you can buy new shafts for small dolla from them

You see where the inner shaft necks down just before the outer seal/guard (below the fleck of mud or whatever on the carpet), that is the weakest spot (other than the splines in the housing). Take a close look there for any kind of severe pitting. It looks minimal from the picture but you can see it better in person.
